How to Grow Corn

The Broom Blend is a high yielding, colorful and easy to grow corn that has been used for years in broom making. The vibrant fan-shaped seed heads come in a mix of gold, red, bronze and purple. (Does not produce ears of traditional corn.) The cut and dried mature straw can be used for a variety of crafts and dried arrangements, as well as brooms. Birds will love the seeds, too.

R400MR is a superior mushroom variety that has excellent plant health with broad dark green leaves, a study single stalk, and resistance to most diseases. The large single ears give it one of the highest yield potentials in the market today. The rich orange kernel size is exceptional at 47 k/10g while popping about 80% ball and mushroom flakes. High resistance: Common Rust, NCLB, Grey Leaf Spot, and Goss’ Wilt.

The Rio Grande Blue is an open-pollinated, all-purpose blue corn that is Native to the Rio Grande Pueblos. Rio Grande Blue makes a wonderful blue corn flour! This corn variety grows long slender ears on plants 5-7 ft tall.

The Red Husk Spectrum is a miniature Indian corn that can grow to be 8-9 ft. tall. This corn variety has red stalks and husk with kernels that are a combination of many  unique colors. The Red Husk Spectrum would be wonderful for fall display but is a great popcorn as well.

Reid's Yellow Dent is one of the most popular open-pollinated corn varieties in America! This corn variety's color is deep yellow, with a lighter cap, but a reddish tinge often appears. The cobs tend to be small and dark red. Ears are 9 to 10 in. long and 7 to 8 in. around with plants growing to 10-14 feet tall. Bigger ears on the stalk can weight up to 1.8 pounds!  Its ear tapers slightly, with 16 to 22 closely spaced rows. The kernels are very deep and narrow to medium in width, slightly keystone in shape, with a square crown.

Fiesta is a hybridized selection of Indian corn with various tones of blue, red, yellow, and white. Approximate maturity is 101 days which is 10 to 14 days earlier than other ornamental corns. Ears average 7 to 10 inches in length with 50 to 70% purple husks.
